just a few of my very favoritest things of FALL!
I was able get corn from the Green City Market here in Chicago and apples from Cranes when I was home in Holland this weekend. I locked myself in the kitchen when I got home last night so I could enjoy these tasty things. No apple pies yet this season, but thanks to Tracy, I've been experiencing apple pie through following this pie guy's blog who happens to be a vendor at Chicago's lovely Green City Market.
On the reading front, I just finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society; this was a great choice (props to Nicky and Emilie). I couldn't believe it was the author's first novel. Although I had doubts as I started the book and knew nothing of what it was about or even what time period it was in, I think it took me less than 20 pages to fall in love with Juliet, the main character.
I actually never had heard of the Island of Guernsey and thought it was a fictional location, but to my surprise it really exists, the Germans really did occupy it during WWII and after reading this book I really would love to honeymoon there. Yes, imagine small shops with a bustling harbor and large windowed homes set on the bluff overlooking the channel. Sounds perfect if you ask me.
But for now, I'm in Chicago, continuing to read and letting my imagination carry me somewhere else. Then again, I am living a midwesterners dream right now - it's October and 78 degrees why would I want to be anywhere else?
One more thing...I have been a fan of pandora for a while, but this new genius setting on itunes is great. I love finding songs in my library that I forgot I had. I'm home alone and listening to the likes of Kings of Convenience, Ray Lamontagne, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens ***ahhh***
