Almost in a pleading tone he said, "it's free."
He waved the grass green Gideon Bible in the way of students, workers, passer-bys.
The short white-haired man in a three piece suit stood outside the pink line station at Polk street with boxes brimming full of these small, free, Gideon Bibles.
As far as I could see, there were no takers.

Of the many faces I see everyday, one is constant -- that is my "Red-Eye guy" in his red shirt who stands at the entrance to the Diversey brown-line. Stacks upon stacks of the free edition of the sun-times slowly disappear as the CTA riders pass-by and grab one for a good read on the way to work or class.

We're doing an all church series called Outflow. It's all about how to reach the world with God's love. The Gideon Bible guy thing reminded me of a video clip we saw Sun. am. A lot of people just don't respond to that approach any longer. It comes down to being more relational with people who need to experience the love of God in action-every day life experiences. I hope there was at least one person who took a Bible that day and had it make a difference in their life.
