reading material

I no longer spend my days reading through work emails, admissions applications nor recommendations (although these, at times, were very entertaining).
Rather, I've been enjoying Rhoda Janzen's Mennonite in a Little Black Dress. Rhoda (a Hope professor, actually) writes a beautiful memoir that ties together her conservative Mennonite upbringing, 15 years spent with her atheist husband Nick, and her six month trip home to her family in California's Mennonite community as she recovers from a failed marriage & physical injuries from a car wreck.

One of those books that you are little disappointed you finished reading so quickly because it's so witty, truthful & you just want more.

So tonight I have a completely new kind of reading material occupy me: Course descriptions, brochures & application requirements for Loyola's Master of Arts in Social Justice and Community Development. I met with an advisor this afternoon and my desire to return the world of academia was only heightened. A lot of things to look into and forward to.
