there is something to be said about that state found somewhere between consciousness and the sleep we fall so deeply into.

often i lay in bed at night thinking of many things, but before i can gather the energy to get out of bed and write them down, sleep captures my thoughts.

in a dimly lit office i have spent my sleeping hours just barely awake and ready to meet the needs of those women who are unable to find the sleep that is inching closer to me. they try to lure sleep with cigarettes, cereal, and cough medicine. i consume caffeine to keep it away.

"what a way that you survive
what a way to say goodnight.
bring on the evenging hours, i cry
bring on the evident of my life
bring on the evening hours, i cry"
Greg Laswell
